About 11 years ago, we had a 23 year old patient who contracted chicken pox. When an adult contracts this childhood disease, it is potentially fatal. This patient spent 3 ? months on a ventilator (life support). She was in a coma, and her prognosis was poor. The time came when the doctors decided to call the family in to pull the plug. They had a conference with the family and told them that the next day they were planning to take their daughter off the ventilator. I was working the night shift, and at about 2:00 am I was passing by the waiting room into the cafeteria. I saw this patient's father sitting there all alone and looking distraught. I asked him why he was sitting there at 2:00 am. He told me the story and then said “This is the last day for my daughter,” and began to shake and cry. Suddenly, the Spirit of the Lord jumped out of my spirit like a lion and said, “Your daughter shall live.” The man began to say, “but nurse ...the doctors said...” But before he could finish speaking that evil report, I reached out and held his lips together tightly, and said, “Sir. Be quiet. I am telling you, man, by the Spirit of the Lord, your daughter shall live.” This man went to ICU and asked some of the nurses if I was crazy. They assured him that I was not crazy, and told him that I was a believer in Jesus Christ, and they have seen many miracles.
The next day when the plug was pulled, the daughter woke up, was completely well, and went home! Her father wanted to go to the newspaper to report the miracle, and tell the story of how a nurse literally held his lips together to keep him from speaking a report of death.
Can you see God's unconditional love? He loves us whether we are thankful or not. He is the God of comfort and wants to demonstrate His love in our lives. “In the day of my trouble I shall call upon thee, for thou will answer me.” Psalms 86:7
